Week 6 - Web of Light
I was walking to my apartment early in the morning one day this week, and happened to notice this perfect spider web on a tree nearby. I was mesmerized by the newly risen sun reflecting off of each strand of silk. As I looked at the scene as a whole, I was intrigued by the contrast of the web acting as a reflecting agent, while the trees in the background and foreground were a blocking agent for the light. I felt that this manipulation of the light brought depth to what I was seeing, and I pictured being able to do something similar with lights on a stage. This picture made me realize even more how important texture is in lighting because it adds so much depth and interest to the space and to movement.

Very nice and subtle image. I did a dance piece about spiderwebs a long time ago and studied them religiously for a whole - they are trying beautiful and take light so well
